Best Wedding Gift Ideas

Paris Exposition: unidentified interior view, ...Image by Brooklyn Museum via FlickrWedding customs and traditions not only vary from culture to culture but can also differ depending on what region of the country you come from. However, the custom of giving gifts at a wedding is considered universal, as family and friends gather around to give their well wishes of love and happiness to the newly weds.

Unfortunately, when it comes to choosing a gift, finding the perfect wedding gift can prove to be a tedious task for most people. For that reason, in the section below, I have made up a list of ideas about the best wedding gifts based on the type of gift you are looking for.

One important point to keep in mind, is it doesn’t matter what kind of gift you choose or how much you spend, it is the thought and effort that you put into selecting a gift that is important.

NUMBER ONE MOST WANTED GIFT
Talk to any wedding planning expert and they will tell you that asking for money as a gift is in bad taste according to wedding etiquette guidelines. Nevertheless, it is the number one most recommended gift according to a recent poll by Tie The Knot. While it may seem impersonal or tacky to a lot of guests, giving money as a gift is becoming a growing trend.

When you think about it, many couples today are getting married later in life and most are already living together before they get married. A lot of these couples feel that they already have most of everything they need for the home so giving money they can use towards their wedding or honeymoon is a simple alternative to giving them a gift they may not need.

If you don’t like the idea of just giving money, then you might like to combine the two: you could buy a small gift, like a beautiful photo frame, and then put the money inside. The other way to give money is with a gift card, this would be especially handy if the registry store that the couple have chosen has this option. You could then place it inside a wedding card. You could then either give it to the couple on the day or mail it to their home.
